President Obama lays out his Public Option, Gives McCain Props and Throws Sarah Palin under the bus!

The President took time out of his busy schedule to give the American people a clear understanding of his new health care plan. He also took time out to give props to John McCain for his idea of creating a Official White House Photo by Lawrence Jacksontax credit for small business that can’t afford insurance and give relief to those Americans who can't get insurance today because they have preexisting medical conditions. The coverage would also protect them against financial ruin if they became seriously ill.

I was surprised to see John McCain give the president thumbs up. I am amazed when politicians get attention how they just forget all of the negative campaign agendas and can immediately embrace the moment. I watched Larry King after the speech and when he mentioned the moment to John McCain, he lit up like a little boy who was proud his daddy recognized him. When Larry King started to talk about how the President singled out Palin for her foolish and irresponsible remarks, John McCain immediately defended her. I get tired of those in charge who can’t admit when one of their own is wrong.

“Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple”. Excerpt of President Obama’s speech Wednesday, 9/9/09

I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am a concerned citizen who feels like our government body has too many secrets they keep from the people they represent. As a citizen, I often feel like a poor person on trial and the public defender assigned to him doesn’t really care because he will get paid regardless. The senate and congress fight hard for their clients with money but for poor people they just go through the motions knowing they will get paid regardless of the outcome.

I applaud the President for constantly pointing out that he and all the rest of the politicians have great insurance and that all Americans should have the same.

A lot people may feel like ‘What’s the big deal?’ and ‘Why is it so hard for politicians to just get things done, especially when they know health care is screwed up?’ The answer to these questions is always money. Where will we get the money to pay for this new program? Will we have to raise taxes to cover the cost of this health care plan?

The agreement that health care was messed up was already bipartisan, so why the big debate on getting everybody on board? The real question is ‘Who’s getting paid by private insurance companies?’ ‘Which politicians are lobbying for pharmaceutical companies; Democrat or Republican?’ The answer is in the individuals who flat out don’t want to change health care at all. They make up all kinds of lies and create scare tactics to get the public all confused. A good example of this is when Obama said that his proposal would not cover illegal immigrants, a remark that prompted Republican Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina to shout "You lie!" But even factcheck.org has confirmed, “Obama was correct when he said his plan wouldn’t insure illegal immigrants; the House bill expressly forbids giving subsidies to those who are in the country illegally. Conservative critics complain that the bill lacks an enforcement mechanism, but that hardly makes the president a liar.” So you can clearly see the President was telling the truth.

I can’t think of a time when a President was so disrespected by a member of congress during an address. I won’t say this happened for the obvious elephant in the room idea of he is a Black Man and that’s why he is getting so much resistance. I will however mention that racist militia group enrollment has been reported to have tripled since the President was elected. I will not even mention people bringing guns to town hall meetings. Is that not crazy? If you don’t think so, chances are you are just as crazy and think we still live in the 1800’s.

The President also laid out the benefits of the public option and talked about how it would not kill off insurance companies that were in business now.

“What this plan will do is make the insurance you have work better for you. Under this plan, it will be against the law for insurance companies to deny you coverage because of a preexisting condition.  As soon as I sign this bill, it will be against the law for insurance companies to drop your coverage when you get sick or water it down when you need it the most. They will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or in a lifetime. We will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of-pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick. And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies because there's no reason we shouldn't be catching diseases like breast cancer and colon cancer before they get worse. That makes sense, it saves money, and it saves lives.” Excerpt of President Obama’s speech Wednesday, 9/9/09

The facts are the majority of people who can’t get health insurance are people who work every day.  The prices are too high for family coverage and the co-pay is ridiculous. The majority of working class people live pay check to pay check so if they get sick too far away from payday paying $25 to $50 co-pays just can’t happen.

I think the President should stop being a reformer and be revolutionary like the man he emulates. I won’t speak of that elephant in the room either but his first name is Malcolm. The President needs to over throw the health care system and the idea of what America claims is healthy. He should push congress in the direction of holistic medicine. If we really care about American citizens, let’s introduce a lifestyle that would cure their current ailments and stop them from getting sick in the future. The real problem is there is too much money in medicine, bad diets and bad health which prevents us to create a true health care plan that would benefit the American people. I just want to comment on the fact that anything that takes away from the pockets of those who are getting rich off of poor peoples backs, is something that will be debated and not changed for years to come. Unless of course, people start letting others know how to stand up and not let their backs be stepping stools.
I for one am a person that want to just be left alone by the government. As long as I pay my taxes and do that which is lawful in the land that I live in, then government has no part in my life. But, when I get sick I expect there to be provisions which will allow me to get a prompt result, so that I can go on with tending to my family. Our hospitals and Doctors even say that they 'practice medicine'. (Term used for insurance purposes). Which cuts down on a lot of liabilities. It is a shame that other countries can have coverage for all of its people in effect and America, as strong as we are, are still struggling with this problem. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_health_care). I am a common American who want aggressive health benefits to sustain my common life.
